Then it dawned on me, what better way than with this questionnaire to show what I've done, what I'm doing, and what I will be doing (circa June/July in the following time frames):

I was living in Dayton, Ohio with my parents and younger sister.

I wanted to be a firefighter by day and ballerina by night.

I was really excited to start kindergarten in the fall - already a huge nerd : )

I was living in Layton, Utah with my parents, sister, and beloved cat Fudgey.

I wanted to write books for a living.

Loved spending time with my neighborhood friends - Steph, Natalie, Crystal...

I was in transit between Yorktown, Virginia and Tucson, Arizona with my parents, younger sister, and Fudgey.

After completing a year in a special program for English and art history, I realized I wasn't as good of a writer as my peers, but fell in love with biology after my teacher expressed all the things "[we] could discover."

I really didn't want to move - I liked my high school and the opportunities it provided, and had a great group of friends with similar interests and passion for learning.

My sister and I moved into an apartment together in Tempe, Arizona, and then I spent most of the summer studying abroad in Greece, Italy, and Croatia.

I was earning a degree in bioengineering and was pretty sure I wanted a job in industry doing research and development.

I really fell in love with traveling and experiencing the world - I've had a trip overseas every year since.

Again in transit - I lived with my parents in Germany for a few weeks, then with my grandparents in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, until I found a place to call home in Minneapolis (well.. Minnetonka, but that's another story).

Was about to start a PhD program in Neuroscience... still hoping to do R&D for a company someday.

I finally felt like I was "home" - I really loved spending time with my extended family that summer and MN just seemed to fit right with me.

Pretty much settled in my apartment that I share with my cat Neuro, in Minneapolis, MN.

Had no clue what I was going to do when I graduate.

I split my time between lab and a full time internship at 3M... holy cow that summer was insane.

This Year

Still in my apartment, chillaxing with Neuro, some fish, and various plants.

Still have no idea what I want to do when 'I grow up'

Taking the summer easy - spending more time with family, doing side projects, and trying to remember what it's like not to work every waking hour of the day.

Yesterday

Got a lot of work done (despite much software crashing)

Met up with some friends for $2 cheeseburgers at Sally's

Stayed up too late watching Food Network and Sci Fi channel on my new tv.

Today

Enjoyed no crashing of the software necessary to analyze my data!

Watched a friend defend his thesis and later went to his celebratory party

Finally decided to start this blog... (is that too obvious? today really wasn't too interesting..)

Next Year

Hopefully will have some research published...

Hopefully will have figured out a career path... (other than alternate plans of: goat herding, playing in the vegetable opera, and gelato making)

??? I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, as my mom likes to say...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://neuroenginerd.blogspot.com/2008/07/past-present-future.html' title='Past.
